Jim
believed it all. He reported to the minor league team of the St. Louis
Cardinals with big plans. "I'll be in the major leagues in two
years," he boasted. He kicked the dust of Gloucester and amateur
baseball off of his shoes, He didn't look back to family, friends,
nor Carol, the girl who loved him and discovered that she was carrying
his child.
Thirteen
years later Jim, a recovering alcoholic, returns home to attempt to
make amends with Carol and hopefully bring the son he had rejected
into his life. Jim discovers that the path to redemption is strewn
and rocky. Determined to win his way back into the good graces of all
those he spurned, he finds himself falling in love. Through baseball
he connects with his son Jamie, and recaptures the joy he once knew.
Now, Jim must decide whether he will, for the first time, show the
courage to commit to the son to whom he has given his heart and complete
the work of full redemption, or to once again take the easy road and
just walk away.
